I recently put on an in-line fuel filter as recommended in the Clymer manual. I also put on new fuel and vacuum lines. I started getting the same stalling when coming to a stop and was not seeing any fuel going into the new filter. One mistake I made was thinking I didn't need hose clamps on the vacuum line. When I put the clamps on I also cleaned the gas tank cap with carb cleaner and I can now really hear that little metal ball rattle around in the cap. So...whether it was the inadequate vacuum from not a tight line, or no vent in the gas tank, the see-through filter stays exactly half full now and I haven't had a stall. It is fun to be able to see the fuel running into the in-line filter and rather surprising to watch the steady stream of fuel that is consumed while the bike is at idle. I did not put hose clamps on the fuel line as anyone who changes to a real automotive grade line will see...the fit is very tight and I put it together without the clamps and I'm not going to take it apart right now.
